Critical Mass

CRITICAL MASS were American band formed at the end of 1973 in Miami, Florida, which turned to Punk Rock in 1977 - mainly influenced by the Sex Pistols. They were active until 1982. They debuted with the self-released, still somewhat garage-oriented single 'Silver Screen' (1978). After a line-up change to a really strong line-up, in the autumn of 1979 Mick Fazz (vocals, guitar), David Owen (guitar), Henry Laplume (bass) and Michael Barone (drums) travelled to England, where they recorded their only album "It's What's Inside That Counts" (1980) released on the MCA label in a studio owned by the musician of the band Yes. With such melodic, reverential Rock classics as 'Run Away', 'Kerosene On Candlelight', 'Faraway', '1964', 'Message On The Wind', 'London' and 'Modern Man', it is one of the best longplayers of early American Punk Rock before the Hardcore explosion. It is also at the same time - as is sometimes the case - one of those unjustly forgotten and remains a collector's rarity.
