Backfire!
Backfire! was a Hardcore Punk band from Maastricht, Netherlands, that was active between 1994 and 2009. Together with Right Direction, the band played a leading role in the Maastricht Hardcore scene M-Town Rebels in the 1990s and enjoyed great international fame, especially in the United States. In the Netherlands and Belgium, the band played at festivals such as Dynamo Open Air, Lowlands, Groezrock, Leperfest and Jera On Air. The band's low point was the suicide of drummer Richard Bruinen in 1999. US band Agnostic Front released the album "Riot, Riot, Upstart" later that year, with a song Bullit on Mott Street dedicated to Bruinen. After his death, however, Backfire came back strong in 2000 with an album dedicated to Bruinen, "Still Dedicated". In 2009, the band quit due to private circumstances.
