The Rebel Riot

The Rebel Riot is a punk band from Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), formed in 2007 after the onset of the Saffron Revolution. During this time in Myanmar many people were protesting against the oppression and corruption of the military system. The Rebel Riot playing small underground gigs. They wanted to use music as a way to speak about freedom and the errors of the current political system.

More than three years after the military coup in Myanmar, their new album "To... Dear Comrade" is out. Despite the strict control from the authorities, they were finally able to release it. Sadly, their guitarist passed away from heart failure just before the mixing was finished. This album is more than just a collection of songs. It’s their traumas, anger, and energy, all mixed up with sadness. With these songs, they want to invite friends from all over the world to pay attention to what’s happening in Myanmar and show solidarity.
