Deathskulls
Deathskulls formed in 2003 in Southend, Essex United Kingdom and set out to play Oldschool Hardcore with a touch of Oi! thrown in, combining the speed and raw aggression of early 80's Hardcore with hook-filled sing-along Punk Rock, two elements that continue to define their sound to this day. With a lineup featuring members of acts as diverse as Unite, Operation Nailbomb and Nothing in Return, it's no surprise that the band's formula is also capable of heading into moments of increased heaviness, or adding a doom-influenced groove which, when combined with the band's uniquely cynical sense of humor and unmistakable Essex style, set them head and shoulders above the competition. Veterans of the UK live circuit, and equally at home whether playing pubs and clubs or squats and backyard parties, Deathskulls have shared stages with a wide variety of acts, from Punk Rock greats to up and coming HC bands, the band's strong personality and hilarious between-song banter never failing to capture the audience's attention. Combine this with singer/guitarist Mad John's manic intensity and the band's mix of ultra-catchy melodic guitar leads, shout-along choruses and furious thrashing mayhem and the result is original yet also instantly memorable, best described by the band themselves as "proper Hardcore played by real men".
