Reaper

Reaper is Hellhammering Metal Punk band from the first-wave-graves of the 80s from Melbourne, Australia. Amongst the many Heavy acts that go by the name of Reaper, Australia managed to bring one forth that caters to nothing but speed and attitude. For the most part, the band sticks to the meat and potatoes formula that one usually gets from this style. Playing it safe isn’t that difficult to do here, but the vocals have such an abrasive burn that it almost lets in a Crustier vision. None of it fully crosses the threshold to Hardcore territory, but there was a clear ear for punkier rhythms present. Reaper manages to fuse the Punky attitude, blackened delivery, and stripped back Speed Metal in a way that still feels refreshing. All your Satanic tropes and rough edges are as present as you’d expect, breathing vibes of Hellripper and Witchery for days.
