Drunks With Guns is American Noise Punk band from St. Louis, Missouri. From 1984 to 1987, the Drunks With Guns consisted of Broadhacker, Doskocil, Sietrich, and one of two bass players (depending on who was available). In that time, the band completed three studio recordings and performed just four live shows. Sadly, the multitrack tapes from the first two recordings were erased by their respective studios, so that the tapes could promptly be used over again, no doubt for more viable projects. The band’s first two 7” EPs (the self-titled and Thirst for Knowledge) were pressed directly from rough cassettes, made on the spot, devoid of any overdubs, effects, or mixing whatsoever. A third studio booked by the band was so taken aback by their music, they refused to let the band return to mix the recordings. Thankfully, Belleville, IL resident Dave Reeves had an identical multitrack, and was able to add some desperately needed effects, making these recordings arguably the band’s most proficient to date. Three of these seven songs would go on to appear on the Alter Human Industrial Fetishisms 7” EP, this lineup’s third and final record. A bootleg album would soon appear, though the band had nothing to do with putting it out. This “black album” — a shameless and opportunistic money grab — was an inferior-sounding and looking reissue of the band’s first 2 EPs. The cover (if you could call it one) was a tired, old play on Spinal Tap’s “none more black” joke; the Drunks were not consulted in any way and received no compensation whatsoever. An ex-associate had gone behind their backs, pocketing all the money whilst sharing nothing with the band’s members; not even a complimentary record. The financial and artistic subterfuge involved made continuing an impossibility. Doskocil assembled a new line-up which was active up until 1993, releasing 4 more 7"s. Seitrich and DeLeon put out a release as Drunks With Guns in 1992, with teenager Melissa handling the vocals, called Zombie.
