VA - First Italian Punk Contest

"First Italian Punk Contest" is beautiful compilation (with a cover stolen from an old classic) produced by the Roman Hate records, which brings together the best of Italian Punk & Roll from the nineties, with a special focus on the Capitoline scene. From Rome come, in fact, in addition to the founders UFO DIKTATORZ, the excellent BINGO, ROCK'N'ROLL CLASS, VARGIU AND THE HATERS and finally the two demented bands of the lot (no less good for that), PUNK AL MURO and JOHNNY BOY AND THE BOOKMAKERS. Then there are ASSHOLES who hail from Latina, BOOMERS from Cesena and the better known TWO BO'S MANIACS from Turin, TEMPORAL SLUTS from Como and THEE S.T.P. from north-east Milan. As already mentioned, it's mostly seventies Punk Rock 'N' Roll with a strong lo-fi tendency, accompanied by singing, as written on the back cover, "in pure fake English style"! For those who were there and for those who were not, to remember small great bands that would otherwise risk ending up in oblivion.
