Strychnine (USA)

Working within the aggressive and ultrasonic parameters of Oldschool Punk, the Oakland, California-based band puts its own hyper-drive spin on the already charged-up metallic Speed-Punk sound. STRYCHNINE formed in 1995, amidst the celebrated East Bay Punk scene, and out of the ashes of various bands (Capitol Punishment, Filth, Crimpshrine, Hells Kitchen, Naked Aggression, Grinch and Econochrist). After a few personnel changes, the band found its core within its current, rock-solid line up. With Ten years of U.S. and European touring under their belts and with a tattooed arms length of singles, eps and compilation appearances to their credit, STRYCHNINE has been able to sharpen its hard-edged craft into a fine point. Their full-length disc, Dead Rats and Oakland Dogs (East Bay Menace Records) got the thumbs up in Punk zines from Maximum Rocknroll to Flipside. One critic called the 2001 follow-up, Born Too Loose (Industrial Strength Records), A major action blasthits you like a full keg thrown at you at 100 mph!
