Donder

Donder (Thunder) is an energetic Punk Rock band from Achterhoek region, Netherlands.

Line up: Dennie Jolink (guitar), Herbert Jolink (bass), Peter Leijenhorst (drums), Martijn Gerritsen (vocals).

Their style: Punk Rock mixed with local dialect (Achterhoeks), plus semi-acoustic songs and poetry. They combine energetic punk with moments of quieter reflection.

By combining regional dialect and punk rock, something authentic is created that comes straight from and to your Donder…

The Jolink brothers started working on this in 2019. Speaking and thinking in Achterhoek dialect, the lyrics flowed easily, and their first song, "Binnendeur (…is nooit um)," (Inner Door) was soon born. Donder is brutal, Achterhoek dialect, and punk, with a touch of speed rock.

During the coronavirus years, the search for suitable band members continued, and at the end of 2021, drummer Peter Leijenhorst and frontman Martijn Gerritsen were found. These four men know that punk rock is all about energy and emotion.

Their mission was clear: the new sound from the Achterhoek was born and made itself heard! Inspired by bands like Bad Religion, The Exploited, and Kärbholz, the band got to work. They play energetic punk rock for a wide audience, with themes drawn from real life. Their debut EP, "Januskop" (September 2022), demonstrates that punk rock doesn't always have to be full throttle. This album showcases the band's two faces: three hard punk tracks and three semi-acoustic songs, supplemented with punk poetry by Willem.

On their second EP, "Vuur!" Donder is going full throttle (January 2024). Six catchy songs that make it hard not to stand still and sing along. Live, Donder is an experience…. It's the songs that drive the band, energize them, and deliver the goods.
