The Bonkers

The Bonkers was a Punk Rock band from Luzern, Switzerland. The band consisted of Serge Liefert, his brother Pascal Liefert, Andreas Plattner and Christof Kaspar. The story of this band, then called The Chicken Nuggets, begins in 1995, when four teenagers infected with punk rock fever tried playing instruments for the first time in their parents' attic. Two years later, the first demo was recorded at the Dynamo in Zurich. The first long player "Tipsy" followed at the end of 1998 with Tobi Gmür, now Chevalac Recordings, on the tape machine. The 11 songs were recorded in the Rotfarb Studio in Uznach and the Foolpark Studios in Baar. The CD was released in November 1999, distributed by MUVE. This gave the band the opportunity to perform all over Switzerland. Many concerts followed in German and French-speaking Switzerland and some in southern Germany. In 2000, the promo disc "most wanted promo" was recorded with the aim of getting a record deal. The goal was missed, but thanks to the new record, the four were often asked to perform. So they continued to tour a lot and celebrated some highlights as support for international bands such as Samiam, No Fun At All and Midtown. In the summer of 2003, guitarist Pascal Liefert left the band for a year. Those who stayed behind continued to play a number of shows. After his return in 2004, he founded the recording studio "Tipsy Town Records", in which the twelve songs of the 2005 album "Ten" were produced. 

After the release, the Taste Punkrock Tour across Switzerland followed in spring 2006. That year, the tour calendar included over 25 performances. From living room concerts to large open-air gigs with up to 10,000 visitors, everything was there. The band dedicated 2007 to further development. A number of new songs were written, ten of which were recorded for the current album in the autumn. After long discussions, it was decided to change the band name to "The Bonkers". On February 23, 2008, the new album was presented to the public under a new flag. Afterwards, The Bonkers played on the Taste Punkrock Tour II, all over Switzerland and in Germany. In 2011, the band released their last long player, The Final Stroke. With a final tour of selected clubs in Switzerland and the CD release party as the last concert, The Bonkers ended their career in November 2011.
