Devil Master

Devil Master is Punk / Black Metal / Death Rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. That's life in the era of universally adored old-school nerdism. Go to the movies, watch a TV show, see these people walking around outside dressed up, or just ask someone with a still-warm ID what Dragon's Den is and you might have to rewrite your life's certainties a bit (how many times in the last year?). We've been technologically advancing as a human race for so long, taking advantage of advanced ways to record images, sounds and experiences, that we've suddenly awoken to a world where VHS tapes are dusted off, audio tapes are rewound with a pencil (with few people failing to mention that this is something the young ones surely can't know anymore) and grown people wear T-shirts with cartoon characters in colourful suits without restraint. They all think of themselves as not being fringe and old-fashioned because of it, while the giant media companies bombard them with more reminiscences of the good old days, which quite possibly weren't even like that. If anyone still thinks that this sentiment shuns the underground sound areas because they are not subject to any trends, they can't be in the metal spheres at least. Sic technical branches of this genre are still trying to climb over the self-created boundaries, trying to find out if it is technically possible to divide a bar into hundredths, in the more piggish subgenres there is quite understandable nostalgia for... well, piggier times. For the days when you couldn't cleverly hide four-track pastiches in the sound mix, because on a six-times-played cassette from a friend it really wouldn't matter. After the days when you couldn't have sixteen musical side projects because you barely knew six people in total. When going out alone with black lipstick and a cape didn't mean recognition from those around you towards your non-conformism, but instead the promise of incredible bullying from practically anyone you met. In those days, you weren't coddled for strutting upstream and your only refuge from the hostilities of the world was your mournful little room, the basement under the garage, or the secret forest bunker where you tormented the animals. Well, that's where the band Devil Master comes from. It helps Devil Master a lot that they cherish those Punk rhythms at 120 BPM while sparing the cymbals. They can so completely easily pull off a decent riff or breakdown by simply adding some pissed off bashing to the previously absent covers. It makes your brain soft, how simple it is.
