Thee Pirates

Thee Pirates (later known as The Blackjacks) was a great Canadian punk band that isn't around anymore. Thee Pirates, from Kamloops, British Columbia, churn out some dangerously volatile post '77 old school punk rock, with sound stylings of Stiff Little Fingers, Clash, Motörhead, Murder City Devils, and Social Distortion, following them around. This is the first album from this  quartet. Living up to the title, most of these 17 songs are under two minutes in length and there's an obligatory hidden track as well. The music is raw, old style sing-along stuff that's catchy as hell. There's no lyric sheet, but the song titles give you a good idea of where they're coming from. "Foreign Policy," "Building Better Bombs" and "Hitchin' Sucks," to name a few. It's punk with a sense of humour. And they cover "Bank Robber," by the Clash, and Social Distortion's "Making Believe" although they soup it up compared to the original. Good stuff. Totaling to 17 (18) skull crushing punk rock prime cuts.
