Illiterates is American Hardcore Punk band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and continue to draw with relish on the traditions of 1980s’ U.S. Hardcore, with more than a passing nod to the youth crew of that era, as well as notable flares of more crossover inspired riffage.. Imagine if the strong Metal influence, basketball jerseys, and corporate co-opt never happened to Hardcore in the ’90s. Illiterates from Pittsburgh have been hard at work keeping the grand tradition of making good, old-fashioned music-to-not-do-your-homework-to alive. Here we have pure old-school U.S. Hardcore band in the spirit of bands like Jerry’s Kids, F.U.’s and Ill Repute. Turn your brain off and turn it up.
