Pestpocken

Pestpocken from Giessen, Germany have been well-known for angry political German Punk Rock for the last 14 years. Their musical roots clearly lie in the “Deutschpunk” of the 1980s, but their sound is influenced by all kinds of other subgenres of Punk music like Street Punk, Hardcore Punk and even Crust Punk. One of the bands trademarks are the male/female vocals. The release of their Split LP with French Bad Nasty also started the work of the labels Maniac Attack Records and T.S.O.R. Records, before that the band released several songs on (international) compilations and two EPs (“Freiheit Oder Tod” and “Virus BRD”). In 2007, the band released their full-length debut “Kein Ausweg”, which has a more developed sound than their previous releases thanks to an additional guitarist. Highlights in the band’s existence were a tour with American legends The Casualties in 2000, their self-organized 10th anniversary-festival in 2007 and their appearance in the Chaostage feature film. In 2011, Pestpocken are still around with a new drummer and bass player and are up to record their new album, which should mark another big step in the bands’s history.
