Last Orders (NZ)

Last Orders are a West Auckland Street Punk outfit that can trace their Whakapapa as far back as 1985. They were playing gigs, drinking beer and recording demos when many of today’s Punk bands were still wearing nappies, (no disrespect if you’re into wearing nappies, it’s a free country). If everyone has fifteen minutes of stardom then Last Orders watch broke in 1989 when two members died in a bizarre gardening accident. The resulting hiatus from live performances lasted until 2005 and for a time they truly set a new standard in how not to rock. It wasn’t all idleness though because in-between binge drinking and watching porn the guys produced a self funded album, re-formed with a new lineup and got themselves back on the live scene. Although it’s probably fair to say that no one except their girlfriends really noticed. Determined to become world famous in New Zealand they have produced a music video which has been quite popular on ALT TV and the CD single has received airplay on the student and indie radio network. The song is called ‘Sex Tourist’ and is catchy as hell as well as being a social commentary about the state of society and important stuff like that.
