Strawberry Blondes
Strawberry Blondes are a punk rock band from Newport, Wales, UK. Keeping it strictly roots, punk‘n’roll mob kings, Strawberry Blondes like their rock'n'roll super charged. Their songs are short, sharp, shocks of highly melodic punk rock bile, based on the rudiments thrown down by the classic first Clash album, or against the grain conviction of the early Manics or the zeitgeist defining lyrical smarts of their beloved Rancid and Goldblade. The Strawberry Blondes, slash'n'burn two minute blasts of guitar driven punk rock'n'roll, their mini anthems-should-be-Top-30 missives. This is sheer pop perfection. The heartfelt vocals, the amphetamine rush of guitars, struck with a passion and fired with the burning frustration of living on the wrong side of nu millennium boom time Britain. Strawberry Blondes are the new face of punk rock in the U.K and have recently won over a ton of new friends gigging with the likes of Rancid, The Unseen and The Aggrolites – they even got the legendary Don Letts to remix one of their songs. More Authentic than a fistful of incendiary rock n roll albums, the Strawberry Blondes will not go down without a fight. Few bands in Britain have their melodic power, their insane conviction and their confrontational guitar slashing passion. They have been threatening to burn down the suburbs since 2003, maybe the time is right for their inspirational rock 'n' roll rush. Their debut album, "Rise Up" released in 2007. This was a raw mix of The Clash, Rancid & early Manic Street Preachers. Features guest appearances by John Robb of Goldblade & a remix by the legendary Don Letts. Strawberry Blondes return with their second full length album "Fight Back", set for an autumn 2009 release.
While many bands fall victim to the dreaded ‘difficult second album’, Strawberry Blondes deliver a barrage of prime rabble rousing anthems, featuring guest appearances by The Briggs, Joey La Rocca and former Stubborn All-Stars front man and New York City ska legend King Django. "Fight Back" show’s that Strawberry Blondes like in the case of The Clash and The Specials before them, have that knack of writing songs that perfectly capture the mood of the time. These are songs that express the anger and frustration of living in the bleak and decaying cities of Britain, in a way that is culturally positive and delivered with a passion and an indefinable feeling that’s difficult to fake. This Band is the new Face of Britains Punk Rock. Fired with the burning frustration of living on the wrong side of nu-millennium Britain, Strawberry Blondes reinvent the past and spit it into the future.
